Sampson Boxing and Tello Box Sign Undefeated Argentine Super Lightweight Hugo Roldan to a Co-Promotional Agreement

Promoters Sampson Boxing and Tello Box are pleased to announce the signing of a co-promotional agreement with undefeated Argentinean super lightweight prospect Hugo “El Nato” Roldan.

In his four-year career, the 27-year-old Roldan (20-0-1, 7 KOs), has already beaten current South American middleweight champion Lucas Bastida (TKO 3); former Argentinean super lightweight champion Damián Yapur (UD 10); former South American lightweight champion Sergio Gil (KO 1); former Argentine welterweight champion, Chaco Victor Hugo Velázquez (UD 10) and WBC Latino Super Lightweight Champion Emiliano “Cobrita” Domínguez twice (both UD 10).

“My ambition is to reach the top of boxing, said an excited Roldan about the signing, “and with my new team, Sampson and Tello, we can achieve it together. I’ve always worked hard in the gym, but now, with this added motivation, I will do even more.”

A clever boxer who moves in and out of range using his exceptional foot speed, Roldan and his trainer/brother Lorenzo will soon be relocating to Coachella, California, to work with rising trainer Freddy Fundora at his gym.

“We knew about Hugo Roldan's career, but we hadn’t seen him in action,” said Carlos Tello of Tello Box. “It was very impressive what he and his team accomplished with almost no support. Then we learned that he was looking for a promoter to get him off the ground and that is how he came to us. Hugo has the talent and discipline to become a star in boxing.”

Lewkowicz, boxing’s premier talent scout and promoter of several world champions, says he’s looking to do with Roldan what he did not long ago with a certain Argentinean middleweight named Sergio Martinez.

“I’m very happy to be adding this undefeated prospect to my roster,” said Lewkowicz. “I'm going to work hard to be able to give Argentina another world title, like I did with Sergio ‘Maravilla’ Martínez. I think Hugo has the talent to do it.”

Roldan’s manager Raúl Camacho says the co-promotional agreement is a big step in his fighter’s development. “We have previously always worked alone,” he said, “signing with Sampson Boxing and Tello is the beginning of something very big. We know of all the contacts that Sampson has in the boxing world and that he always keeps his word. He is a good man and the whole team is convinced that he will take Hugo far.”

Lewkowicz says he’s working on securing Roldan a US work visa and will be announcing Roldan’s first fight under the new promotional banners very soon.
