EXTRA PRIZE FOR THE WINNER OF THE SUPER 8 TOURNAMENT OF MIDDLEWEIGHTS: A WBC BELT LIKE THE ONE MONZÓN HAD
In addition to a giant bronze cup (named Carlos Monzón), the winner of the tournament "Super 8 of middleweights" will receive a World Boxing Council belt, the replica of the one that had the greatest argentine boxer when he reigned for the entity based in Mexico.
This was announced by the WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman, who delivered the trophy to Sampson Lewkowicz, promoter of the tournament that already started on January 5 in Las Varillas, Cordoba.
The ambitious “Super 8” will continue on February 2 in Necochea (Buenos Aires) with the clashes between Alan Castaño and Francisco Torres and Sergio López against Johnatan Sánchez.
The winner of the bout Castaño-Torres faced Gonzalo Coria on April 6 in the semifinals, while the winner in the fight López-Sánchez, also the 4/6, faced Germán Peralta.
The Super 8 final is scheduled for July 6.
